Growing Up In Dudley - Arthur Harris

While Arthur was driving past Russells Hall one day he spotted these nurses protesting.

”Most of us in the 50s came from humble beginnings, just as did my Mum and Dad. The dreadful war had not long finished and money was in short supply, we also still had rationing at this time. It surprises me today that Mum had the foresight and managed to save enough to have studio photographs taken of me, and later when I had a sister, both of us.

Dudley of course was a favourite shopping place for most people.

Stretton Studios, 192, High Street Dudley was the place.

I only vaguely remember theses occasions, but the dog in the one image I do remember well, he was with me for some years. I can’t remember the studio or where it was, maybe someone out there can. My early research has failed to find anything.”
